My thanks to the very talented Janneke Storm, Sunshine Coast Photographer for the use of her beautiful images.
Mother Nature has a will of her own, the fact that we have in place a failsafe contingency plan known to all involved and your wedding suppliers alleviates possible stress in taking a gamble with the weather and crossing your fingers for the best outcome. Despite how many times you have heard it doesn’t rain on the Sunny Coast, yes indeed it does! and Mother Nature does not differentiate when she decides a deluge of the wet stuff is due! I have officiated at entire weekends of wet weddings, meaning each wedding that weekend has had to put their plan B into action. Beside the technical equipment being at risk, the legal forms just cannot get wet; your guests will not enjoy standing in the rain getting their carefully chosen outfits and hair styles sodden. Yes rainy wedding photographs are phenomenal, so very beautiful and you can always brave the elements with your trusted photographer to claim some of those amazing images afterwards, however you need to keep your guests and yourselves dry, within reason, for the best part of the day. Particularly during the ceremony when the beautiful words you will say to each other and legal proceedings need to be the focus and not the possibility of mascara running down your cheeks, except because of tears of course, that is to be expected ;)
So with this in mind here are a few Rainy Day Sunshine Coast Wedding alternatives for you to consider:
The Restaurant with whom you have booked your reception maybe willing to accommodate you and your guests for an undercover ceremony if necessary, depending on the day and time and the of course the restaurant you choose. The Surf Clubs are particularly forthcoming with this offer I believe, and naturally a weekday evening would be more likely than a Saturday at sunset during the Easter holidays for example.
Sunshine Coast Council has its own wet weather venue in Mooloolaba, the rather unceremoniously named “The Loo with a View”. It is undercover and has ample space and an inexpensive council permit can be purchased as a backup regardless, to give you added peace of mind.
The accommodation you book would usually be ample space for approximately 10 guests for a smaller wedding of which I conduct many, especially if you upgrade to a Penthouse suite with large balcony. A private holiday home rental or large apartment with lovely views is another option and beautiful for you and your guests to enjoy while you are there. Definitely this would be my preferred choice, as you are getting the benefit of enjoying staying there as well, even though paying maybe a little extra.
A contingency plan is absolutely necessary; we always need to be prepared!
Above all when choosing your location consider how devastated (if at all) you would be if it becomes unusable due to wet weather which the 'Sunshine Coast’ surprisingly does have its fair share of. If it is something that would completely spoil the day for you, then opt for somewhere that will be perfect rain or shine for you and your guests, an all in one venue that has its own wet weather plan built into your package.
Whatever the weather enjoy every second....As I say in
every
blog don’t lose sight of the meaning of what you are actually doing and keep the big picture in your heart.
