Definitely a
marriage ceremony on the Sunshine coast is among the most desirable places on Earth to say your marriage vows butneed it cost the Earth?
It is all too easy to get quickly carried away and themeaning of the entire event can get lost in translation when tempted to splashout, please respective families rather than follow one’s heart or indeed budget.
I interviewed beautiful bride Kirstie Wallace at whosemarriage I had the pleasure of officiating in Sir Leslie Wilson Park, DickyBeach, the beauty of ocean and nature behind, as her and fiancé Geoffreyexchanged their vows. A Sunshine Coast council permit of $80 was the onlyrequirement to secure the setting as theirs for 2 hours. There are so many amazing Sunshine Coast locations to choose from!
People think “Wedding........ B-I-G dollars and it reallydoesn’t have to be that way” says Kirstie
From our first phone conversation Kirstie had a clear idea inher mind of the budget she had allocated to her wedding day and was determinednot to go over it. The occasion was fabulous in every way; in fact it was pureelegance.
I asked Kirstie to share some of her thoughts:
The help of friends was enlisted to decorate the area using anatural arbour.......an overhanging tree which was adorned with hearts and minimason jars with candles looking spectacular against the ocean backdrop. Sheabandoned her initial idea of providing guest seating for a reasonably shortceremony, instead guests stood close by for an intimate occasion and thesigning table and chairs were included in my Celebrant package. Kirstie was notpersuaded to add to her initial gust list as is too often the case, and onlyimmediate family and close friends were present.
Kirstie looked a million dollars in her dress but throughsmart shopping she managed to find her dream dress on sale locally. Geoffrey andthe rest of the bridal party looked equally stylish.
One cost area that Kirstie was not prepared to compromise washair and make-up. Besides wanting to look her best she felt that thephotographs that would record the event for the future would be enhanced withprofessional makeup and hair artistry.
A family friend took charge of photography and perfectlycaptured the occasion producing some divine images to capture Kirstie’s theme.
A roving dinnerreception (without the usual minimum number of guests required) at a gorgeousvenue in Meridan Plains, provided a huge selection of tantalising menu itemswhile guests were able to mingle freely in the backdrop of lush greeneryprovided indoors and out.
Having a clear plan from the outset allowed Kirstie to relaxand enjoy the anticipation and not lose the true meaning of the occasion andthe whole process was in her words ‘plain sailing’. The only factor outside hercontrol was the weather; however, having a pre-arranged solid Plan B in case ofinclement conditions ensured this concern was taken care of as well.
In Kirstie’s words her day was unforgettable, without stressand the nagging of looming credit card bills and importantly, the true meaningof the momentous occasion was preserved. This was the achievement many couplesaspire to, a beautiful and memorable wedding that doesn’t drain the bank butleaves funds for the future.
